Motorcycles can be fun and very dangerous if you’re not careful. Safety is number one when it comes to a motorcycle. You’re not protected like you are in a car. You don't have air bags and metal bars protecting you. There are 10 safety tips for riding a motorcycle.
The first two things you need do before riding a bike is learn how to and get a helmet. Making sure you know to ride is very important especially when you have to switch lanes or turn. If you don't know how to turn properly the bike can fall over and you will most likely become injured. You also need to make sure your wearing a helmet at all times. Getting into motorcycle accidents without a helmet it can cause head trauma that can lead to death.
The next two things you need to know are making sure you have appropriate attire on and that you don't speed. You need to wear proper shoes and clothes when riding a bike. The bikes exhaust gets very hot and if your not wearing pants you will get burned. Speeding on a bike can be a lot of fun, but it is very dangerous. A lot of motorcycles injuries are usually caused by speeding.
Now that you have your safety gear you must make sure all of your gadgets work such as brakes, headlights, turn signals, brake lights, etc. When you’re out on your bike it is especially important that all of these things work so that people behind or in front of you can see you. You also need to learn your hand signals for turning just in case someone can not see your turn signals; this prevents someone from hitting you from behind.
When out on the road there are a lot of things you can do to stay safe. If you are riding on a road that has more than two lanes make sure you’re not riding in the middle of the lane because you might be in a cars blind spot. Don't follow close behind other cars especially if they have a trailer. Don't get behind a vehicle that you can't see in front of, if its only a two lane road don't ride close to them, that way you will be able to see if there is trouble ahead. Look in your rear view mirrors frequently so you can see the traffic behind you.
There are a lot of dangerous things about riding a bike, but if you follow all of your safety regulations riding a bike can be a fun experience. Be careful out on the road remember safety first.
