Pedestrians and Motor Vehicle Accidents

Here is an actual account of a pedestrian accident from an eyewitness perspective. Take a moment to read the account below and think about the consequences of driving recklessly and the potential fatal accidents that can happen.

"About five years ago I was in my car at a red light heading to go straight on a busy road. When I turned my head and saw a car hit a child crossing the street. I was such in shock I turned and called the 911. I was on the phone when the car that hit the child decided to run. I quickly wrote down the drivers tag and description of the car. I could not believe my eyes the mother of the child had bumps and bruises but she was screaming and wanted to move the girl. I got out of my car and walked over to the mother who was crying heavy. I told her not to move the girl in case she had a broken neck or legs. I stayed with her while we waited for the ambulance. The cop arrived and got my information. Next thing I know I see the driver who hit the child come back. I told the cop he is the one who hit her. I was very upset for the mother's sake. I could not believe it. Well this horrible thing happened on July 4th. The following year I got a phone call from an injury lawyer who got my information from the cops I guess. How they mother was suing and I may have to give a statement in court. Two months later I received a phone call from the lawyer asking for my written statement. I did not want to attend but all I could think of is if it was my child. I would want someone to do it for me. So I went down and did that. Four years went by and I did not hear anything. Finally my husband got transferred to a new town and we moved. I received a call from the lawyer that it was going to trail. He later called me back that week and said I did not need to show. He thanked me a lot for staying and helping and also giving my statement. To this day on July 4th I still think of that little girl. She is ok though so that makes me feel a lot better."
